Anybody using them?
They're supposed to stop better than the others when hot. How about in the cold? Any noise? How are they on rotors?
I'll be putting them on a '99 with the OEM rotors.

i believe the ford OEM pads used a ceramic friction material in 99

just buy a quality pad and you will like the results... much more often than not you get what you pay for with brake pads, and in my opinion that is no place to skimp as far as quality is concerned...

wagner, bendix, raybestos.... all good pads ... obviously there are better performing pads such as hawk and ebc and performance friction, but of waht you can get locally and reasonably i'd try to find a good price on either wagner, bendix, or raybestos

I installed a set of these on the wife's Contour almost two years ago to minimize dusting. They have succeded remarkably well in that regard.

I had also replaced the OEM rotors with whatever was available at the time and they did warp within a year. I do not believe that the ceramics were the cause, though and that the reason was just cheap rotors. I did recently (couple of weeks ago) replace the rotors with cryo-treated rotors in the hope the will resist warping for a much longer time. I told the wife they needed to be driven "gently" for a couple weeks before I season them for eventual long term usage. Time will tell.

I put the Raybestos ceramics on mine when I did the '96 upgrade (with Ford rotors) last summer, and over 10K later they still stop like they did when I first did them. Great and consistent hot, cold and wet stopping. Best part is VERY little dusting! I last washed my car about a month ago (I know, I know), and I've only been able to see any dust accumulating on the wheels in the last couple of days.

I have the ceramics and they seem to stop the car better than the standard replacements. These also eliminate the brake dust I used to get. I am putting them on the rear the next time I need pads to get rid of that annoying brake squeek at times. Worth the extra money. thumb
