I just got this for 200 off amazon so I guess I can't complain too much. I expected to see a valeo stamping and a different reinforced disc without plastic as part of the construction. Gary morell said in one of his posts he didn't consider a disc high performance if it had plastic used in the construction, people have seen the stock valeo ones fail apparently.
I bought a parts car recently that came with a used southbend pressure plate and installed was a zero mileage reinforced unit that just had strap and rivet mods. The centerforce seems to be well built. That south bend has grade eight 1/4" bolts at both ends with steel lock nuts and only two straps. Hopefully their newer versions are different.
I've checked for years for the price to drop and it finally did. Years ago when the price was at 350 I told people here and someone bought one. Then it went back up to 5 something. I read every thread there was on here about centerforce and took the gamble. If it lasts thirty thousand I can just replace the disc or gamble with one of the other pressure plates I have.
That one picture is of the disc that came with the southbend kit. Supposedly the disc was no good but it was the transmission all along. I wonder what the material is that the disc was made of. I shouldn't have thrown it outside it was probably fine. It must have amazing grip with such high metal content.
Here's pics of the southbend pressure plate for reference. I don't have pics of the other pressure plate. https://shoforum.com/index.php?threads/southbend-pressure-plate-pictures.136045/
