im fed up with my CEL! i dont know what the deal is i have had numerous scanners hooked up to it and i keep getting the same **** code. my inital codes were 176 and 177 and those are lack of HO2's switching i replaced them. it seemed to have fixed the problem for about 3 months. but it is now back and worse than ever it will come on even if im not rodding my car. i just pulled DTC's and got the same codes but in bank 2 im running rich AND lean. i even hooked up the ford Break Out Box and did a road test and got the same codes.. :madflame: i appreciate any responses in advance.

Sometimes when you continue to go through oxygen sensors, the problem is deeper than just the sensor. Is there a possibility that your car is running rich and killing the sensors. Or possibly you have a weak converter.

I agree with you, I hate to look at that light too.

The Cat. Converters are AFTER the O2 sensors, so they cannot be related.

I would check the engine over for vacumme leaks.
Also, have you had the y-pipe off recently? If the y-pipe doesnt seal against the exhaust manifold, then your O2-sensor(s) will report a LEAN condition.

You are correct. I get the different Gens mixed up. The Gen 3 has 4 oxygen sensors. Sorry, my mistake.

when i took off my y pipe i used generous amounts of PB Blaster on the studs. Well after i put the y back on with the sensors still in the y pipe, one 02 sen fouled within 5 min of drivivng. I think the PB smoke in the exaust manifold wasn't too healthy for the o2 sen.....probably not related to your problem. I would recomend taking out the sensors before you burn any excess out. That is, if you are going to change them again.

i havent had the Y-pipe off at all and it doesnt sound like i have any exhaust or vacuum leaks. its not that common of a problem, but does anybody think it could be a faulty PCM? i just dont know what to do next. my next guess would be my injectors being dirty they all OHMed good. i just never want to see that dang light come on ever again!

It's a SHO, the CE light never is off for more than 4 months. It's a "feature", look in the owners manual... I think its in there...

In all seriousness i have been battling a lean condition for over 9 months... try swapping your 02 sensors and see if that changes anything. Thats my next step... after a ton perviously. Search my name and lean... you'll find my thread.

As suggested check for vacuum leaks. Reused intake-to-head gaskets that are chipped may also cause a lean condition.

well. now to go along with my CEL comming on whenever the **** it wants, i now have a very noticable surge at 30 mph under LIGHT throttle. if i mash the gas when this is happening, my trans. will downshift fine and will accelerate great.
