sunny San Juan Bautista,
My car has 161,000 miles. I took the y-pipe off last November at about 152,000 miles or so, I forget exactly what the mileage was. It was over 151,000 miles. Anyways the stock y-pipe with cats sat on the garage floor until this last weekend when I reinstalled it to go take a smog test. BTW, without cats my SHO is nice and stinky!

Here are my numbers. This should answer for you how long the cats can last:

2500 rpm 1 ppm HC measured (140 ppm allowable)
2500 rpm 0.00% CO measured (1.00% allowable)

idle rpm 7 ppm HC measured (120 ppm allowable)
idle rpm 0.00% CO measured (1.00% allowable)

As long as the car is in a reasonable state of tune (my SHO got its first 60K ever at 148,000 miles) the cats can last a very, VERY long time! It's when the car is running far too rich or missing that the cats get too hot and burn themselves to death.

ok well my sho is running good so they shouldnt be a problem i hope to get a high flow y pipe on some time but realisticly that wont hapen untill after winter. i do think i need the 60k soon. im not shure it is time though 12300 mi. when you had your 60k did it bring more life into your car i feal like mine could be lacking power. espetaly after my crappy 1/4 mi times at 16.55 and with a 60ft of 2.8 or so( i know the 60ft isnt to good)

OK, so why don't you put up a "where to get 60K in Indy" thread?

I'm sure sopmebody could give you a good place to go, or help you do it yourself, if you are so inclined.

Getting back to performance, a clogged cat can rob some serious ponies from you. The fresh timing belt in a 60k will also make a major difference.

Good luck! thumb
