Hello.
I can't get my cassette tapes to insert and play and was wondering if anyone else had this problem.
They go in the slot but don't go down/insert/play.

Thanks for any help!

It might just be dirty inside or have something physically blocking the mechanism. Remove, spray with electrical cleaner, flush with water (I usually use the sink sprayer) flush with distilled water, flush with isopropyl alcohol, dry thoroughly, reapply grease to all the moving parts and reinstall. If that fails to correct your problem, remove, throw away, replace and enjoy. Its 24 years old, so there's no shame in letting die with dignity. You can get a very nice head unit (with usb & aux inputs, for your tape deck) for about $90 - $120. Or you can find a stock replacement in a salvage yard for $10 - $20. Good luck.

My first 1990 SHO I bought in the late 90's had the cd player jammed with a cd in there when I bought it, and had the tape mechanism malfunctioning shortly after I got it. That was a 9yr old factory unit. That's the quality you are starting with and now your's is pushing 25yrs old and the same technology as the late 80's units.
