Car's dead

Tonight i drove my car and it shut off. I went to restart and all it did was crank. My car died once before and it just pop started in 2nd gear. Does this sound like a CPS?

Maybe. Is your tach moving while cranking? Check your codes...

My car started up after letting it cool. Does this mean i should order the CPS?

I forgot to mention. how hard a job is this to do. I have a spare engine that i could pull the CPS off of.

I checked my codes and it threw a PIP intermittant ignition failure, and power steering pressure switch . I have read in previous posts that a bad CPS doesn't always throw a code. Could the DIS cause this problem? mine is cracked. I still think it might be the CPS because after letting it sit for awhile it started.
