So I spent over $400 in parts to get this sho on the road installing new valve cover gaskets new plugs n wires and a super coil pack and still the car runs like shit ...every time I start it now it began to "put puttin " and seems to cut off soon as I give it gas or let off the pedal but from the sounds of it ...it sounds like its coming from the exhaust which I happen to look underneath as I was tryna keep the car at idle and saw that the catalytic converter was starting to glow "red" can someone please tell me what could be the problem ? I also recorded it with my video camera that ima try and put up on you tube

first, pull the codes and tell us what they are.

second, the glowing cat suggests lots of unburned fuel, so you could have any of the following: bad plug, bad wire, wires connected wrong, bad coil pack, bad dis, etc. just because the parts are new does not guarantee they are not bad. lots of wiring diagrams have the wire routing wrong, so make sure you have that right.

And put a stock coil pack on it if you bought the Accel...it may not even be the right one.

the Accel super coil packs are known to be pieces of garbage, so take it off and either return it or throw it away and count it as a lesson learned. put the stock coil back on.

ok, now please pull the codes and tell us what they are.

also, please confirm the wiring routing on the coil pack - tell us what order you have them on the coil pack.

the module is smart enough to know that the 'airbag' light on the dash is burned out, so if it cannot flash the codes at you, it will beep the codes at you...

Agree totally! I had an Accel coil pack, ran it for a couple of years (not a lot of miles), the car was running rough and with a lighter-than-stock flywheel (SHOSource part that's about 3 lbs. lighter than stock) it was hard to make a smooth start without extra revs and stumbling. Read the negative posts about the Accel coils here, put the OEM coil pack back on about six months ago. Voila! Runs as it did before the coil pack swap. As you can see from my sig., the engine has some tweaks.

When the rough running became obvious was after I had the SHOSource 2.5" SS catback exhaust and MagnaFlo straight throughs installed. Maybe the Accel gets stressed by the need for a richer fuel/air mix at less than WOT conditions and begins to conflict with the PCM. The car would accelerate fine at WOT with the Accel, but the street driveability deteriorated, and I tried the OEM coil pack on a whim.

How ya doin, Fred?
