There isn't anything that replaces the entire factory radio/climate control unit, but some people have added an aftermarket deck around the ash tray/cigarette lighter part of the dash.

There's another thread under performance issues that I tried to keep going regarding someone fabricating an install kit. That thread has been dead for like two weeks now. If no one comes up with a way to do it, my idea is to buy this cool gadget from Crutchfield.com that plugs into the factory CD changer input in the trunk.

I was going to use that with a Kenwood CD changer controller that also controls their Sirius reciever. What's nice about that is it plays through the CD line on the stereo. No tape noise and no FM modulator taking away sound quality.

I moved mine to under the passenger seat then replaced it with a 10 disc Kenwood. Works pretty good and I can reach it while driving. Keep a spare magazine loaded and ready. By the way, the adaptor unit from Crutchfield to make it work with the Ford controls has enough cable to relocate teh changer to just about anywhere in the car you would want.

Did you get a whole new cd changer w/ wired controls or did you get one and wired it into the stock setup?

I am curious because I want to get a MP3 cd changer, but so far nothing works with the mach system...

I ordered a Kenwood 10 disc changer only that had an optional adaptor for the Taurus/Sable Mach system. Plugged right in and works great. Was a $79 adder but was completely painless. :thumb:

I drove a loaner 2004 Cadillac SLS that had the cd changer in the center console. Pretty nice setup. Thing would take a stab at a V8SHO from a 40 roll.

Thanks Carter, I noticed right after I posted that you already said you got it from Crutchfield :oogle:

That adapter you speak of must have gone up in price - $100 now, but to become compatable with the MACH system i'll still do it!

Anyway, thanks for the imput Carter I appreciate it. Once the tranny is done, the brake upgrade, exhaust and tint is done - so will come the cd player upgrade!
