So, I have this weird problem as of late:

I remote start my car, and once it gets to it's peak start RPM's (around 1,200 to 1,500) it will immediatly turn off. It does not stumble and try and stay started, it just turns off.

To prove this I sat in my car and pressed on the gas pedal while it turned itself on and it still went immediatly off.

Once I stuck my key in and turned it on, it went just fine.

Anyone know what could be causing this? (PATS?)

Well, most likely.

The PATS (Theft) light flashes rapidly when this happens, which means the P1260 code has been set. I can't figure out why PATS is being set off though.

And.. oddly enough, this doesn't happen all the time.. just sometimes.

a resistor? I doubt it would be open, all that would be handled internally inside the alarm system IC.

Anyone know if you can disable PATS with the X3 Tuner?

yea in the pats key is a resistor not sure of the resistance but in the moduales for the remote starts they have them installed to create the right signal to allow the vehical to start
not sure if the put them on the main circut board or not

dont think you can disable the pats i think it would requier some programing by a dealer

What kind of remote start do you have? My remote start will shut off the vehicle if the motor is revved to a certain RPM. Not sure if this is an adjustable limit that can be reprogrammed or not but that might be your issue.

A Viper car alarm. This only happens every once in a while, and it is not affected by high RPM's or anything.

It might just be the tune you have. I just bought my 97 last week and when the tune is on sometimes the car will die if I just start it and don't give it a little gas. It depends on how long the car has been sitting for me. I have the Nimz tune and I believe that is what you said you have. If the car is warm I don't need to give it some gas to keep it going but if it has been sitting for a while I do. I would guess it is because of the tune. Try it with the tune taken off and see if it makes a difference, if not then I am clueless.

Well, I know it's not the tune, but it does have something to do with the interaction between the ECU, PATS and the car alarm.

You can shut off the PATS but will have a steady theft light. Which you can remove the bulb.

Who installed the remote start? Make them fix it.

Yeah, I don't want that :)

I will probably just take it back to them and see what they can come up with.
