I just bgoutht this car about 3 days ago, and i am a new owner to a SHO, well on my way to work this morning the engine light came on and the car started bucking, and after a bit it stalled, i got it started back up but it was running real bad couldn't get the rpm over 4000 really, and whenever i pushed in the cluth and let off the gas it would stall. It also went threw a lot of gas, and smelled it too. A few times it stalled it didn't want to restart but after about 5 minutes of starting it would finally start but run real bad. I am a little nervous being a new owner that there might be a bad problem, but after looking around seems it must be something stupid. This car has had modifications done, inclucing a superchip which doesn't even seem to make a difference, and a bigger maf, not sure what size by PRO-Maf. I did some searching threw shotimes, but didn'treally have any luck. I am going to try and check some connectors, and clean battery terminals, but any suggestions would be appreciated.. Thanks Jeff

I'm sure someone will be buy to tell you to check the codes and they will give you a link to show you how, which I can't recall at this time. But my best guess would be the O2 sensors, bad O2 sensors could cause you to run rich and thats why you would be smelling unburnt fuel.

Welcome to the Forum!

Dump the SuperChip and the PRO-Maf.

Reset the computer and the idle speed.

See if the problem is fixed.

If not, run KOER and CBT tests and see what the results are.

I had the same thing happen in a previous car - unplug the computer ground, and pull the chip out. Chances are its current'y not fuly seated, and isnt making good contact.

Welcome to the SHO Forum. The EEC code test procedures and code descritptions are given in the links at the bottom of my signature. You only need a short jumper wire to plug into the EEC TEST plug. See the second link for a picture of how to connect the jumper. After that, all you need to do is turn the ignition key ON and count the flashes. Read the test procedures and flash sequences in the first link to know what to look for. Let us know what you find.

The idle speed reset is in this topic.

Ok, thanx for all the quick replys. I am still not quite sure what the problem is, but i cleaned the maf, and the connection, and pulled off the dirty battery connections and clenaed them, and then pulled out the superchip, , then battery cables back on, took it for a ride and was fine. When i got back i took back off the battery cable put back ion the superchip, put back on the battery cable, and took it for another test ride, and all was still well. Was the problem cuased by dirty battery connection, maybe the superchip wasn't completly seated ? Dont know. But if it happens agaion i will just pull the chip and go from there..
thanks
