I am currently running a Clutch Master's Stage 3.

is it a double spring plate?

I would suspect possibly the plate isn't releasing 100%. If it's releasing 90% (hypothetical number) this is going to manifest itself in "it works pretty good at low revs, not so much at high" And don't discount any centrifugal forces acting against the cover/spring at high rpm that worsen the problem.

Bottom line, I would not view the alum flywheel as the culprit.

I could see it as a combination as that pressure plate puts significant pressure on an aluminum flywheel. I have the double-diaphragm CM3 and do not have issues shifting (stock clutch -> used to have Fidanza).

Hey Brian,

Many years ago I had mucho problems with my Fidanza and Race Clutch. It wouldn't shift right. At high RPM the clutch would engage on its own. I could actually watch the clutch pedal go down toward the floor as I reved. We had to take out the pressure plate three times due to breakage. Finally I ditched the Fidanza and went with the stock steel. No problems.

Later over some beers with other fordbastards we figured I had one of the earlier Fidanzas.

FreakSHO has been running the Fidanza/Race clutch for years with no problem however.

Dunno on your setup....but I think going with a steel flywheel is probably a safe bet.

I know someone who exploded an 8lb with a high clamping force clutch setup in their sho, that was a fun day.
