I went to tear into the car to replace the clutch and I was greeted with the factory wheel lock.

I tried my key from another SHO and i wasn't so lucky.

Is there a way to remove it without a key? the car is not drivable so bringing it to a Ford dealer is out of the question.

Please help!

Thanks

yes, basically you jam a socket onto the lock, preferably a 12 point socket, then use a breaker bar or impact wrench to loosen it

use a hammer to jam the socket in, use a punch to get the nut out of the socket when done

This site has a lot of suggestions from pounding on a socket over it to remove it, welding on a lug nut, etc. What worked for me after trying several options is to cut two slots 180 degrees opposite of each other and using a chisel punch and hammering on opposite ends until it starts turning.

Then throw away those locks...

Tighten the **** out of the other 4 nuts first to make the lock nut easier to remove. PB Blaster helps. Or, call a locksmith out and be dismayed at how easily he gets them off.

Yep Haweye18 has a good trick, by thighting the other lug nuts around your locked one will relieve pressure on it. And you can buy a a special socket to remove lock nuts, they ususally come in a 2pack and and are fairly cheap at your local parts store, they work great, I'd lend you mine if you were closer:)

Well, if you have time and want to keep the locks, you can get replacement key sockets pretty easily. They are made by a company called McGard (based out of Orchard Park, NY literally next door to Ralph Wilson Stadium where the Buffalo Bills play).

What you can do is take a piece of paper and a pencil or dark colored crayon and make an etch of the design. Call or email McGard and send them the sketch or a pic of it. They can identify which key it needs by their catalog and can send it to you. I think they're were less than $20 last time I went years ago, but I went directly to them since I used to live out that way.

Tire shops might have a selection of McGard keys laying around as mrecoolgar pointed out though that might match up.

They had the 3 pc in stock, but it is too small or too big. Crappy Tire didnt have any either. I am going to get the universal removal kit today and see how that goes.

I got one off no thanks to PA. I used an air chisel, hammer and screw driver.

I got a little tool at UAP that looks a lot like a socket. It has a spiral thread cut in it that grabs the outside of the wheel lock (which is round). It digs in as you turn it and grabs the lock and turns it off.

I cant seem to find an extractor big enough. The biggest I've seen is 3/4" and it is too small.

Ford was a bust, they told me they can't do anything for me. LIES, the removed my other SHO lock nuts a few years back. It is time to just hack them all off.
