I am trying to replace the wheel bearings on 91. I have the ford shopo manual, and I am at the point where you remove the knuckle from the car. How do you get the lower control arm off and how do you get the knuckle off the strut? I suspect once I get the lower control arm off, the rest will come.

I removed the horozontal bolt on the knuckle, but I can't figure out how to get to the ball joint.

removing knuckle

I have done the rear on my 95 SHO -- basically, once you remove the nut holding the strut in place, use a screwdriver or wedge in the same spot to hold outward pressure on the cylinder portion of the knuckle. downward taps w/ heavy hammer should then do it.

for the LCA I agree the separator fork-like tool for the control arm or outer tie rod works. i have not done the front but would assume you must support the driveshaft as this is done to avoid damage to cv joint.

happy pounding!

Thanks for the advice. I put a jack on the caliper braket and moved it up a few inches te get the weight off the LCA. Then I used a pickle fork to separate the LCA from the knuckle. After that it was easy.
