This has been driving me nuts and I can't seem to find the problem. Lets say I'm backing up, I hear a light "Cluck" like something just settled. Then, I'll start to go in 1st gear, and USUALLY by second, I hear it again. I can feel it a little, but not much.

The small trans strut on the drivers side is SHOT! Moves up and down freely. Could something this small be causing it??

I checked the mounts and the front is fine. Under load in reverse, the rear will rise about 2 1/2 inches.

What gets me is that it does it in reverse gear, forward gears, sometimes as I downshift, and in the middle of traffic. It isn't violent, just really annoying knowing something is loose/busted and I can't find it!

Thank you for any input!

Edit: Ignore the Solid MM's in the sig. Turns out, they never got put on:madflame: and have since VANISHED!

I'd say you should install a rear engine mount that ain't broke, and see if the symptoms persist.

The damper is probably shot as a result of the bad mount.

He can't. He already sold that rear mount to me! Well, verbally anyway. Tony, put that sucker on your SHO and see if that solves it.

I'll be dropping some coin at SHOSource here in a few days. I have the same problem...well, that and many other odd noises/clunks that need to be sorted out :banghd:

I looked into that and I don't think it's violent enough to be that. But I'll jack it up and certainly have another look.

Another thing I noticed while driving home yesterday, while on the phone with CWhalen no less, was that doing about 60mph, if I lift on the throttle I can feel the motor rock and good 2-3 times.

I think I'll be changing the rear mount like frosho suggested just to be sure and see if that's it.

I had the same issue. When I rolled underneath the car I notice that the rear mount nut had just decided to fall off. $1 to fix...
