Loosen the ac compressor, hold it off to the side a bit, loosen the ps pump, pull it to the side a bit... Then yank my motor out ? Or do they have to be attatched? The front of the motor is off.. W/p housing, alternator, crank, covers, cam gears. Just the heads, and the block, but those 2 pumps are there, and the A/C seems like it will be a bear to mess with, maybe I'm just not looking at it right, but it seems a lot easier to yank the motor out without those in the way, then change my mounts and everything once the engine is out. ?

I'm gettin close to the fun part.. :naughty: :thumb:

Sport... got bored, felt like re torquing everything...

lol no really, I got a short block with 0 miles on it.. an old / origional and the one with 189k is coming out. I spun a bearing, and instead of replacing the crank, or grinding it and machining, and all that, I just figured a NEW block would be "good enough" lol I loved these cars since I drove my first 89 SLO, and wanted that basketweaved Beige one I seen in town all the time. Since then I've had a few, and I want to do this one right. It's been good to me, so I'm being good to it. Near SHOw quality is what I'm lookin for here, end result.. I'm workin on it slowly but surley..

http://mysite.verizon.net/reso8rhl/id7.html Check it out... more pics will be up by tommorow afternoon.. :) I'm thinkin you will all ike the sexy Black / Silver combo I got goin on.. :)

i jus swapped my motor... and i wud jus go ahead and pull it with them on there.. i mean after all the time u spent loosening and movin to the side a bit... u could already havi it out...they arent that much of a problem anyway...jus a couple hoses to disconnect and then ur good...

and jus curious... where'd ya get your shortblock?

good luck with the project:thumb:

ps(i wud go ahead and take the front mount off... i thought i could get away without removing it but that torque dampener got in the way for me and i ended up having to take it off anyway)

Well I have new HD mounts, so they will come out reguardless. I guess the AC just looks like a mess, and I assumed they have special tools to remove the fittings, but I havent gotten a good look at it, as my raditor is still in and all that. I'm kinda limited on space, so I cant really tear her down to bare bones like I want. I'm building the motor on the stand here first, tore down the front, build the front, take off heads, replace heads. that kinda deal, until I can pick that block outta there. :) I got the new one on the stand by hand.. (Beefcake!!!!), so I should be able to muscle it loose and outta there pretty easily. My A/C hasn't worked in ages, there's a leak somewhere, and I just never had it refilled... and actually that may be it. It tests ok, just no gas at all, I hit the schrader and nothing.. :) relay clicks, i can hear the clutch kick, but no cold stuff.

I got it from a guy who had it sitting around for years. He posted in the classifieds on shoclub.com if i remember right. I've had it for about 6 months just waiting on parts and stuff, then I got laid off, and went to work on my toy. I was the only electrician that said... ""Yes!!!"" when they laid me off. $385 bux after tax a week, to build a SHO with... lol and my tax check is coming soon... Interview with Verizon monday to start work splicing fiber on the 8th of Feb. So you can see my window of opportunity. :) Gotta hurry tho, need another 4 door... I got another baby coming in August.. my F-150 dont cut it.. lol

Ford AC compressors should have the two lines that go into one ******, held on by a single bolt, on the back side of the compressor. Might as well come out if it's going on the new engine. And I am not entirely sure of the PS pump, never had to deal with one on a SHO.

You could just drop them both off the engine, then pull it, though, as well.

I was thinking that for the ps pump.. just one less thing to bleed / refill :) I was debating putting a reman rack in tho while its out... dont know how much life mine has left after 189k miles

You have to decide if the $30 in refrigerant and $2 in ATF is worth the extra time and effort to leave those components in place. Two spring lock couplings, the PS high pressure line and supply hose will all take less than 15 minutes total. Don't know that trying to rig up the compressor and PS pump to remain in the car could be done in a similar time frame and I can guarantee the effort is far more.

I pulled one with everything attached (rod shifter and all dont ask) it can be done and imho i feel its the easiest way to pull it from the top. the easiest way period is to drop the supframe but if u must pull from the top just pull it all out. And Eric u do know if i come down thats what i am going to do right? i dont want to separate them.

LoL yea its cool with me... I'm going to have to put the front end down on the ground tho due to clearance issues with the garage door track. :(
