Can 205 tires safely fit on slicers?

Got a set of slicers for the winter, and I want to keep my options open as far as snow tires go for it. I know the stock size is 215, but if I can find a set of 205/60/16 tires for cheaper than 215/55/16 then that is what I will do. The 205s would also be more helpful in the snow because they are narrower. Anyone ever run 205 on slicers?

Well then I guess I should start hunting for 215/55/16 snow tires then. Ok thanks for the input.
By the way, Chris, I like your new member status. It suits you. thumb

I don't know jack about snow tires, but a 205 section width would be fine as long as the weight rating is ok. I don't see what the problem is. I doubt you'll ever notice a difference. BTW, the stock tire size for Slicers was 215/60/16.

I agree. I had 205's on my slicers for a while. They didn't perform very well, but that was on dry pavement. I think for snow duty, 205's would be very nice, and like you said, the narrower tire will cut through the thick snow better. Just for perspective, I could have put 205's on my svx, and the stock wheels are 7.5" wide! (verses the slicer's 6? Maybe 6.5? )

I realize that the stock tire size on the slicers was 215/60/16, but I need them to be slightly shorter then my current gen3 tires.
The slicers are 6" wide.

Your car will absolutely handle better...in the snow, with 205 width tires. But yes, you will have to take it easy with them. Not a huge deal when you get to fly in the snow, IMO.

There is no risk in the fitment of the tire width to the rim width. I'm running 215 width tires on a 7" wide wheel on my Accord. In fact, that width is probably closer to optimal on a slicer than the 215 tires. Although, I would suggest finding a 205/65 16 tire.

What about the weight rating? Does that decrease with tire width? I want the 60-series because sometime mid-winter my Roush's will be going on, and I don't want rubbing issues with the taller tire.
