Cam Welding???

Just purchased a 97 as a dd. Not sure if the cams have been welded.....I'm doubtful though. I would like to have them done, but dont know of anyone in or near Kentucky that can do the work. I looked a V8sho's "will weld cams list" and call rickety engineering in Ohio (seemed like the closest to me) several times and left messages, but they haven't called back. HELP... I like the car and dont want to explode the motor. Any suggestions... or does anyone know a shop or individual that does this work near KY. Thanks in advance for your help.
