Ok, I recently replaced my Crank Position sensor. Which solved a miriad of problems. so all was good. But I have a new problem creeping up.

Occasionally, when I try to start my car, it wont start. All it does is backfire. I turn the key, it backfires a few times, I stop, I try again. Usually it will start on the second or third try. But, the tach wont work, and it will diesel at low rpm's, on the verge of stalling. Also, I get a CEL. I figure this is the cam sensor, and am planning on replacing it. I just wanted some confirmation from you guys if you think thats the problem as well.

Also, I occasionally throw a CEL when I am out driving. it happens at random and will go off within a minute or so. Dont know if thats related, but figured I would throw that out as well.

That starting (or lack thereof) behavior does sound like the CID (cam) sensor. You should check the codes to be sure. There may be other problems, but you have to check the codes to know for sure. Go here if you don't yet know how. It is so simple to do you will be amazed that shops actually charge to do it. AutoZone will do it for free and you can pick up the Wells F134 sensor there for $30. The CID sensor is attached with two 5.5mm (7/32") bolts. Good luck.
