does the camshaft identification sensor go out if oil gets in it? my car shows all of the signs of it going out- hard starts, wierd stumbling and random stalls. often times if i take it past 6k rpms it will stumble very hard. well i replaced the sensor, and put a new one in, and i forgot to replace the cam seal behind it and oil leaked in it again. well i replaced the seal now, and i cleaned out the little bit of oil in it. it seemed to run fine for a period of time, but now its doing it again just without the hard starts (i assume that comes later, because that didnt happen for at least a week with my bad sensor), just not as often. should i replace the sensor once more because of that little bit of oil i had to clean out of it? or could this be something else?

What so you mean by "hard starts?" Backfiring and engine trying to rotate backwards? That would be the cam sensor. If it is just not starting quickly, you may want to check for oil in the plug wells and old/incorrect plugs and plug wires.

by hard starts, i mean that it backfires and makes funny noises from the engine bay, much like it is trying to start backwards

That would be from a non-fuctional CID (cam) sensor. Has the CHECK ENGINE light come on during these hard starts? Reading the codes would confirm the source. The CE light will extinguish while the engine is being turned by the starter as soon as the CID sensor identifies the #1 cylinder. If it is not doing this, the CE light stays illuminated during the starting attempt.
