Cam Seal Leak

Today I am going to replace my cam seals and I remember a thread (could not find)were this one guy cam seals was still leaking after replacing them three times. This scenerio would be my worst nightmare and I would like to avoid it at all cost.Is there any info I need other than following the helms manual with the application of the rtv sealant and not scratching the cams. Thanks Guys

P.S Did that guy get his leaks stopped

So long as you get the seals in all the way and they are flush all the way around and not kinked, you should be good. It's kinda early for me, but I don't think RTV is necessary on the cam seals. You just want to put some silicone lubricant on the edges.

Once the seals are replaced they shouldn't leak unless they aren't installed correctly or part of the sealing surface is marred or scratched, in which case they will never seal right and continue to leak for the rest of the engine's life. The cam seals do not require RTV, just spread a thin layer of oil on the edges to help it slide on.
