cam noise?

so this 89 mercury sable 50th anniversary edition that i've been wanting has some bigger issues than i thought. i stopped and talked to the guy for a little longer today and he tells me that it has new main and rod bearing and a new oil pump, also that the trans has been rebuilt. but the car only has 123k on it. then he tells me that they have 20w50 with a bottle lf lucas in it because when it bets warm you can hear "cam noise" he also tells me that the trans shifts hard from 1st to 2nd but is fine in the other gears. now i have a 98 3.0vulcan engine to swap in but with there having only been 50 made, i dunno. it's suppose to have genI SHO suspension and the rest of the car is sable with the mercury 50th anniversary badges and it's almost a full option car and other than a few spot in the paint the body is perfect as is the interior. i've never seen a genI sable or taurus in this good of shape. what do you guys think? have any of you all ever heard cam noise in a OHV engine? thanks

Look at it this way. It's still a sable. So if you really want it, put that motor in a don't worry about it. Otherwise, it's just another sable for the yards that some ninja will probably stick the badges on an ****** or something.

Wait, a 50th anniversary sable? Huh?

it was done for the 50th anniversary of mercury, they did it for the grand marquis and the cougar also.

If you want it get it and swap the motor. If your worried about "value" rebuild the original.
