Everywhere local has to order the repair kit(boot tore 2 days ago)at a cost of about $20.I`ve found them at www.carparts.com and www.autozone.com for under $10.I know online is often cheaper, but that much?Or should i just splurge for a new caliper that i`ve found for $50 local?Any input, cost,or lacation will be helpful.

Got two pins and four boots on Friday from Autozone, I went there and picked them up. The two pins cost 9.99 and the boots come with the caliper kit which was 10 bucks. The kid behind the counter let me open the caliper kit and take the boots out....I left with the two pins and four boots for 9.99 :)

Installed them that night....the bottom pin was so frozen it took me 15 minutes to pound it out with a hammer. Greased up the bracket holes and I could still feel the bottom pin grab a bit.

I think it is time is time for new brackets....anyone know where I can find them cheap?

I gave in and bought the whole caliper. The brake was very hot when i noticed it,so i wanted to avoid any damage that might have happened. How do you get the e-brake spring back on?I was able to pry it off,but can`t get it back.Helms just says install spring, big help there...

you have to use a flat screw driver to pry it. Thats the only way. Why did you remove the spring anyways? If you wanna remove the cable and avoid all the headache of the spring, you just have to disconnect the e-brake cable under the car at the drivers door. Once you remove the splice at that point you can pull the cable right out of the caliper.

Regarding the rear brake spring, there is a tool sold specifically for this purpose. I have one in my tool box. I don't have the part number, but it is a Snap-on part (possibly Blue point)called a "rear brake adjustment tool" or "rear brake spring installation" tool. It's basically a long bar with a bend in the end of it. Works like a dream.
