So mostly got the car back together with the exception of the instrument cluster area. Got the amp rack through bolted with locknuts so don’t have to worry about that heavy thing falling off. All the gains are tweaked, and I have the eq and crossover settings where I like them. I installed a valet switch at the lower right of the driver’s knee panel where you reach your hand up there to flip it. Also installed the Amppro configuration **** in the same place since you rarely need to adjust it. The level control potentiometer was a royal pain. It’s a dual *** so it wouldn’t fit under the door stock. I had to fabricate a bracket to mount it from behind and then cut the shaft and top **** down to clear. The led is crazy bright, so I have to do something about that at some point. You don’t see it if you close the door, so it can wait. I might try painting it black on top. That’s it for now.

A little VHT should fix that bright light. Better than using tape anyway. Unless you feel like breaking open the unit and doing it the ******** way.

I never even tried the RCAs. I was so disgusted with the whole dsr1 thing, I went optical from the start and ordered the Twk with the Amppro optical option so I wouldn’t have to rip yet more crap back out of the car once I wasn’t satisfied. I’ve installed and uninstalled everything at least twice now I think. Lol The biggest compromise with the Twk is there’s no Bluetooth or tablet support for configuration. You have to use a windows laptop with the Tun software and a usb cable. The pre outs are not very impressive either at 4v, but it’s not noisy even at a relatively low output level.
I don't blame you. It was worth it to not have to tear into it again. The Helix has an add on module for Bluetooth but I don't think you can tune it through Bluetooth though. That seems to be a relatively new feature from what I have seen.

Some nice work though getting it together, and apart, and back together.

Went ahead and put it all back together and cleaned the car up. I’ll take the cluster back out whenever the new lens comes in. The car was covered with dust inside and out from working on it. Oddly enough, I had a check engine light on with a vehicle speed sensor low code. Cleared it and started it a bunch of times and it didn’t come back. The car hasn’t moved in a week and a half, so I’m not sure what caused it. Maybe it was all the times the dsr1 ran the battery down. We’ll see tomorrow when I drive it.

I ordered some led dimming film circles so gonna try sticking one of those on the led first before I use paint. I should have coated the led before I put it all together. Oh well.

JL audio sells a Bluetooth module too that works with the Tun software, but it’s only compatible with their amps with built in Dsp.

I guess I get a break for a little bit. Then I get to tear into the wife’s Flex. I ordered a sub amp for her birthday and told her I’d put it in with one of my rejected Pioneer subs in the stock sub box. Also have some illuminated door sills and a factory refrigerated console to install for her that I’ve had for 6 months. Been thinking of picking up another Amppro and trying it. They say it’s not compatible with the Flex too. I’m a glutton for punishment. Lol

I bet the dying battery was the culprit.

They say it's not but I think good chance it ill work. I'm sure it's not exactly the same but the APIMs and ACMs really aren't much if at all different, there are plenty of people who did the SYNC3 swap with a APIM out of a different model with only some Forscan programming. I did the SYNC3 upgrade twice first APIM was non nav out of a base stereo SEL Taurus into my Sony car. My guess is they never tested it in a Flex so they don't want to chance issues.

No more check engine light or codes, and I’ve driven it 50 plus miles, so must have been the low voltage over and over. I just got through taking the dash apart and putting it back together yet again, though. Lol. It started raining a little and the wipers did nothing, so I tried manually cycling them and the window washer button, and still nothing. Looked for unplugged harnesses, checked fuses, related relays, etc. Everything looked okay, so I thought the Amppro was messing with the CAN bus or something so I ripped the dash apart and unhooked the Amppro. Wiper problem was still there. I started looking at the various parts of the wiper system on eBay and noticed a ribbon cable on the stalk. I work on test equipment during the day and have had tons of issues caused by disconnected ribbon cables, so I pulled the column trim off, and look what I found...

The lock had come loose and the cable popped out. I’m guessing it was already loose and the bass finished it off because where it is there’s no way I snagged it. It’s behind the shroud. I put the connector back together and RTVed the **** out of it. Hopefully it won’t happen again. Wasted about 3 hours troubleshooting and putting the car back together.33DB5EC2 94DC 43A5 A2F0 9CB9681C9505
