I just picked up a '93 MTX SHO that needs a new clutch but is otherwise mint :) . Its got the non-JBL stereo. I have an aftermarket HU and was wondering which of two options i should choose. I could either spend $65 and buy the harness and amp integration kit or just buy a bypass harness for $15. I have an excellent HU (Clarion DXZ 715) and i'm not sure of the advantage of spending an extra $50 for the integration kit (and does it bypass my HU amp to use the factory one?). What should I do?

In my personal experience, I have found it better(sound wise) to bypass the amp. I tried both set ups and realized I wasted money on the attenuator. IMHO, you should just bypass them.

I will also be putting new speakers in to, the HU will handle them where as the stock amp(s) will not.

you should always bypass the amp if your head unit has its own amp. double amplifying music greatly increases harmonic distortion and can cause your music to sound like ****. besides, im sure the capabilities of the clarion amp are far greater than the 93 JBL technology ( i dont even think they used MOSFETs back then)
