I have a JVC deck in my car, what used to happen was that after I installed this HU it would make a "pop" sound whenever I change a track, station, or when there's no sound from the source. I half assedly solved the problem with a watt equalizer box (or something like that) which eliminated the "pop" but also killed the bass and volume and I finally have had enough and want to fix it for good.

Now I've read all the threads regarding the amp bypass, but in those threads many people have also said they used the harness for the JBL/Premium sound harness through the factory amp and it sounds fine. Sould I bypass my JBL amp or should I go with the Premium Sound harness?

Im using the stock 4 channel amp, but everything else is aftermarket. I like it since it filters out the bass from the speakers. Less work for me to do.

if you have a gen II there is the harness tied up in the dash for the regular sound system as well, you could use that and then use your own aftermarket choice of amps and bypass the JBL all together.

I had a crackling problem that was caused by a flaky amp cable connector, the part that attaches to the stock radio. At first I thought it was the adapter harness I was using, but no. So I ended up cutting off the stock amp connector and soldering in a regular Ford radio connector instead (similar to the bypass harness connector). The amp cable is comprised of smaller wires inside, including the speaker wires etc., which makes it easy to wire up the alternative connector.

End result, no more static when using the amp.
