Found a 2018 burgundy CPO PP that has 6k on it for $27k. Owner had it from April to August . Hopefully it wasn't beat up or a lemon but 2.5 years of warranty left .

What are the first things I should do before tuning? Should all the fluids be changed as an example?

Thank you .

Yes change the fluids u don’t know if those were hard 6k. I Would and did on mine This way u can start your maintenance schedule from now on. All of them PTU, OIL , TRANS , COOLANT, REAR GR OIL Use good synthetic oils. Check all hoses and vac lines etc...

With only 6K on the clock?! Seems a bit aggressive....

Before going down that rabbit hole ask for ANY records on maintenance and a car fax. Could be just fine.. I picked up a 2016 earlier this year with 7K on the clock for $26K CPO... all the maintenance was done at the dealer.

Ask for the history if they know... if there are a lot of rebates/incentives on new SHOs they may just be trying to get this used one off the lot..

No accidents from the report and when it was mfg in Nov 2017 and first owner in April . Next owner was the dealer .

No maintenance given the short ownership. I have the service record when the dealer brought it back on a trade for a F150 . They changed the oil and air filter etc . They said the guy just didn't like it but who knows if there is any truth to that.

Could be fine... I would have liked to have seen an oil change by now... but if you are going by the oil change indicator it would not have gone off by 6K...

That’s a **** of a deal however... I would have jumped all over that...I mean... I kinda did with the 2016 CPO with 7K for $25K...

If you are interested in a SHO... that’s a great deal.

I was really debating waiting for a 2019 but these cars take such a hit in depreciation I figured low miles and lots of warranty it would be ok.

And you would be 100% correct. I would never buy one new...

The burgundy looks good but would have chosen something different. I wanted the PP and that sealed the deal .

Yeah that’s a great deal. I’d probably at least change the oil with a nice full synthetic and a high quality filter.

Only concern I’d have with it not showing an oil change until it was traded is how it was treated during the break in period and it not being changed during the first couple thousand miles.

Yes that certainly is a concern . I didn't realize there was a break in period on these cars? Does the maintenance schedule require an oil change that soon?

They won’t list it on the schedule but it’s good practice to baby any brand new car and change the oil after a few thousand. Typically during that period you’ll drive like a grandma. Don’t break 4K rpm etc

I've always believed following the old methods as well but have been told by various engineers not to worry about that with these later model cars.

Not really. Production tolerances are very tight these days so not much breakin is theoretically needed. BUT many manufacturers will automatically restrict RPM to say 3500 or below for the first thousand miles to help prevent breakin related issues. No engine can really be broken in BEFORE it gets to the driver. They can set the optimal conditions, but still the driver is the prominent variable.

Break in hasn't changed over decades. And even with my Legacy Turbo, their recommendations just follow what I do.

Relatively easy for the first 500 - 1k miles. No particular rpm limit, but keep rpm varying, and I will use engine braking, which I virtually never do later on.

Change oil and filter.

Then drive it like you stole it for the next few hundred thousand miles.

This has given me better-than-average running cars, after they fully loosen up in the 5-10k range.

I don't think you can beat that deal, even if there is something wrong with it you have a lot of warranty time/miles left. It's rare to see 2015 models with low mileage at dealers for less than 20K, so you are looking at as good of a deal as you can get. The biggest part of the depreciation is long gone for you if you buy it. Just don't let them tack on a crap load of money in fees. You should only pay state sales tax and 3-400 in other fees total if that isn't already OTD price.

Yep, that's a **** of a deal. Friends of mine just bought a 2015, recently off lease, with 29k miles, for $24k. It's in immaculate condition.

I didn't think that price was great, but they needed a car rather soon , and, strangely enough, there just weren't any 2013-up SHOs available around Detroit. I drove with my buddy over to Grand Rapids to get it.

Amazing deal, I paid about 26k for my 2015 with 27k miles in great condition with brand new tires and certified preowned warranty. It was one of the cheaper ones for the condition in the area. I certainly could have done better but I figured trading in my car and having a warranty was worth the extra money than selling and trying to find something else quickly since I don’t have a driveway to park extra cars.

Let us know if you pull the trigger and post some pictures!
