This may sound odd...
Just replaced my water pump on my 91 MTX. Is there any particular method I should go about to get all the air out of the coolant system now that I filled it up again?

Allow it to go through several warm-up and COMPLETE cooldown cycles while continually replenishing the overflow and the radiator (while cold only).

Continue monitoring the TEMP guage during this time. Don't let it overheat.

The normal heating and cooling cycles that occur during normal driving will purge the air from the system. You can even watch the bubbles in the ATX's more visible expansion bottle as the engine warms. When the radiator fan comes on, the cooling of the system will cause a small amount of coolant to be taken in from the expansion bottle. I have watched this process with a car parked in my garage as the engine warmed and the fan cycled.

This process happens repeatedly during the normal driving process. Just don't push the engine really hard for a few hours of driving or a few start/stop cycles. If you see rapid movements of the temp needle, that indicates that there is still air in the system.

I have been noticing some "spiking" in the temp gauge since I installed my new radiator a couple weeks ago. Still getting air worked out? No leaks that I can see..and the low coolant light fickered at me a couple times.

If you fill the system through the front IAC hose with a small funnel and leave the radiator cap off you will fill it from the top down forcing the lighter water out the open radiator.

Does that leave the heavy water at the bottom, or what?
