burning oil smell 2013

Anyone ever get a burning oil smell when you stop ? it smells like pvc vent oil smell, only get it once in while, is it common or something for the dealer to look at?

On a 2013+, could be a valve cover leak well. #3 cylinder IIRC.

if you pull the plug boot it will have oil on it ???

Correct. If there's enough oil, you will get a misfire.

Every now and again I smell that could be a burning plasticky smell, but it doesn't last long. Mine's a 2012. I've been assuming it's been outside (goes away quick enough) and maybe it is... but now I'm wondering.

Mine has an oil smell but only when stopped at lights. My research lead me to a leaking PTU vent. Since my engine bay is very clean, it didn't take long for me to find that is my issue. I haven't fixed it yet, but I can easily trace the oil to the vent.

Intermittent oil smell...I swear I remember reading a TSB on this. I'd check through them for this.

There is one for oil smell (at least on 10-12 models). It's for PTU leaking through the vent cap. It calls to replace it with a new version that routes the vent through a house and the engine.

I had a gasket that leaked a small amount of oil on my '13. Timing chain cover gasket to be exact. I would smell it once in a while and than it became constant. Took it to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty. In the process they had to pull so much apart I got 5 total new gaskets, coolant flush and A/C system flush for $0!!!

Had the same problem, ended up being a turbo leak on the return hose.
