I'm starting a new job in 2 weeks that requires a 500 mile a week commute, so I dropped my car off with my mechanic to resolve a few issues (1 quart of oil every 600 miles being one of them). He said the axle boot was slinging oil, so I gave him the OK to replace the driver side axle. I picked it up tonight after hours, got about 1 block when *tink* no power and happy fun noises. So, quick question -- Will SLO axles work in a SHO? Or did he f up? (Well, 2nd questions sorta obvious..)

SLO Axels will not work. Maybe he didn't have it seated in there right and it popped out.

I don't think so, at least I hope not - he's always been a good mechanic for me (We trade labor, I work at a computer store). Will a SLO axle almost fit? If it just popped out, I'm hoping he can grab it and get it fixed tomorrow.

Ohya, the oil problem turned out to be the oil pressure sensor -- guess I shoulda said slinging grease.

Also, he couldn't find an ABS controller (ABS has been disabled for 2 years.. long story) for the SHO, and I'm assuming that a SLO won't work. Local junkyards don't have any SHO's, so would posting here be my best bet for one?

Check your P.Ms.
I doubt a SLO axle would even go into the diff (i've never tried though). A friend of mine had the same problem. He installed a new (rebuilt) axle and broke it leaving his house. Check to see if it broke.
