brightest headlight bulbs

My headlight are so dim, they are almost worthless.

What are the brightest replacement bulbs I can put in my headlights?

Will polishing the outside plastic covers brighten my lights a bit more?

You could up the wattage maybe 80 100w bulbs but you would need a better wiring harness. And the harness it self would prolly help you out alot. You could clean up the plastic for better results too.

Sylvana Silverstars are about the brightest you can get for bulbs. The headlight harness will help too. The other option would be to go to HIDs.

Polishing will help but it will not last long. It would be better to get new ones. Some have polished them then add a sealer. It seems to help. By polishing them you remove the protective coating, and allows them to yellow faster.

sylvania's I think are 55watts and a great choice, 80-100watts may start to melt the plastic. Had this problem on my dads foglights on his gtp. Its not fun trying to find a new set of factory sized lights either.

I will try the sylvanias 55 watts. I do not remember my lights being so dim when the car was new.

I just got my harness from suvlights.com yesterday. I'll hopefully be installing it this weekend. I'll try and take before and after pics of my lights against the wall and in the street, then report back. I've heard great things about harnesses from 2 of my friends that have them, one on a Gen 1 and one on a Gen 2.

i said screw it and bought 2 new sable housings and they work perfect with 10 seconds worth of grinding where the end tanks bolt to . also bought a 12000k hid kit will have together soon for some pics . buy the way sable lights are cheap new at 59 bucks

As of right now, I will only be adding the harness. I have Phillips XtraVision bulbs right now I think. I have been stalled on my HID projector retrofit for over a year now, but I will hopefully be working on that again in the coming months. Part of the retro will require an upgraded harness, so since I have it now and it only takes a few minutes to install, I'll be doing that now. I'm curious to see what the benefits will be also.

When I first got my SHO I cleaned the headlights inside and out and then put in some Sylvania Silverstars - made a huge difference.

I made my own for less than $10. Two relays and some wire/terminals and you're golden. I suppose for people that aren't electrically inclined, this is a good alternative.

You really bought 12000K HID's? What brand because I know Phillips nor Hella makes kits for such a purple color. Post pics when it is on your SHO because I would like to see them.

Here are my Hella 6000K kit with new headlights (Aimed a bit low due to me adjusting them and my almost 3" drop upfront thanks to SS):

I also ran the power for both ballasts to my battery, I was told makes them just a bit brighter , I only used the factory harness as a switch.

The harness will have different results on every car, It all depends on what shape your wires connectors and relays are in.
