There is a split decision because not everyone has the same idea of performance per dollar. Most want to spend as little as possible (which is good) however should not be at the expense of some unknown tire (not Bridgestone or Goodyear) which now you will take your grocery getter to 140 mph in.

A European magazine compared these two tires as well as several other wet/dry Summer top performance tires last year using a eurospec Focus ST-170 (basically our SVT Focus). The winner was the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, second was the Continental ContiSport Contact 2 and the Bridgestone S-03 finished mid pack.

Early customer feedback on TireRacks.com survey indicates the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 to be a very good tire. Is it the best for the money ? That depends on the suspension mods on your car, the way you drive, the roads you drive on and your subjective judgement.

Price for price they are with in $20 of each other so to me it a split decsion. But I'm not really caring about price here. I've read the tirerack comparisons and feedback and everyone really likes the new F1's over the old ones. The only problem I have with that feedback is that the tire has only been out for less then a year. I might just have to splurge and get the Yoko A032's hehe.

I used to work at a Firestone/Bridgestone dealrership. So obviously I'm going to be bias. However, I do remember my boss telling me once the that S-02 pole position tires are actually tire than the S-03. If you wanna go for the biggest bang for the buck, IMO I would go with the Potenza 730s or maybe something in the 900 series. That's JMO though. The Uni-T II package that go a long with the Bridgestone's is a really cool package. The makeup of the tires actually doesn't lose water channeling ability or road traction ability as the tread wears. Make sure to keep 'em balanced, and aligned or you going to enjoy your new tires for less than a year.

I have a set of new old stock S-02 Pole Positions on the car and love them. Several people who had them and replaced them with newer S-03's are not as happy with the S-03's. I think Bridgestone is replacing the RE-730 and RE-730 Gen II with the newer RE-750 tire.

Did you have the original S-02 or the later S-02 Pole Positions ? The S-03 was designed to give a quiter ride as the tread wore down and to improve wet traction.

bump. It's getting close to the convention and I need to make a final decesion. I'm thinking more of the S-03's or now the Toyo Proxes T1'S's. The Yoko A032's are still calling my name thou.
