None of that makes it junk. But you are more then entitled to feel how you wish.
Easy to debate whether it's worth the premium over the x4. But you're one of the few to say it's a pile of crap because you have issues with the window mount. Lol

I posted on one of the Internet forums that I was anxious to get a tune for my Continental but no one supported it. I received a nice PM from BCB and we also had a good telephone conversation. They seem like a classy and professional operation.

They were confident that HP tuners N-gauge could be used for my car. I am still not totally comfortable with the idea of datalogging but that would be required.

I have also spoken to Brad (AJP) who is also a good guy. He uses SCT and they don't support the Conti yet although Brad is working on them. That would also require datalogging, of course. Ethan at Livernois is great but I get the sense that tuning for the Conti is a low priority for them. I will say that if I had an SHO and had a place to do the datalogging runs, I would seriously consider BCB or Brad. I will likely have more discussions with them regarding tuning for the Conti.

I'm confused I thought the Lincoln platform was well represented, I don't think the Data Logging is really an issue it sounds pretty straight forward take a cruise late one night and try and capture a picture of how you drive when you are playing around. My only point with Data Logging was for those of us who don't race our car it would be time consuming to capture all the different ways we drive/use our car and probably not necessary. A general (pass a Camero on the Highway) tune would be all we really needed. All things being equal I would go with Livernois and avoid having to data log BUT there product is more exspensive and there tuner provides no gauge/monitoring feature which I think I would like to have. Why I want the gauges I don't know its not like I will see anything before the computer does.

What do you mean you don't have a place to datalog? A hiway on ramp will get the job done. All you need is a single pull to about 90-100.
You don't need to log every single driving condition you encounter.

Triple digit speeds on a public road in my area would automatically mean loss of driving privileges if caught along with astronomical insurance rates. Not gonna chance it.

If they can get the info they need with 0-80 runs, I will do that on the street and then I could get them the higher speed runs at the track. I go to the track every couple of weeks or so but I don't want to spend all summer dialing in a tune or waiting 2 weeks between revisions. Patience is not one of my virtues.

I will not be looking for the absolute maximum performance race tune anyway.

TBH, i suppose the tuners could start you off with a hot but solid tune, and then let the customer decide to dial it up or down. With sufficient experience, thd tuners should be able to do that if that's what the customer wants

LOL I can respect not wanting to get a big ticket BUT if I do a solid pass on the Highway I can reach a buck without really trying, if you don't want to data log just do a Livernois tune, from what I understand its plug and play and great Customer Service.

Livernois is great but they do not support tuning my car. Anthony told me that I was the only one who even requested a tune for a 3.0 Continental so he gave me the impression that I would need to look elsewhere. Ethan has been more encouraging but they still need to get a Continental 3.0 on their dyno for about a week of testing and I am not sure how anxious they are to do that considering the small number of people who will be wanting a tune for that car.

I am obviously not a tuner but it baffles me that getting a tune for my Conti seems so challenging. Livernois has a tune for the 3.0 MKZ and it uses the same engine/transmission as my Conti. Seems like it would be compatible to my strategy code but apparently not.

Did you try torrie? I know datalogging isn't something that ur interested in but it's not like the baseline tune is a dog. Datalogs may pick up a couple tenths but it's still significantly faster just on baseline. Bcb and torrie are great to work with.

I haven't reached out to Torrie recently. I contacted him last fall and he told me that as soon as SCT supported the Lincoln 3.0, he would have a tune for it. At this point, SCT does not support it and they told me it would be 6-12 months, at least. Brad has reached out to SCT so if he can get the ball rolling sooner, I would work with him. In the meantime, BCB has indicated that HPtuners N-gauge might be a better way to go. My car would be somewhat of a development vehicle for them.

Right now I am accumulating more break-in miles and waiting for winter to end before I figure out what to do. I am really not anti-datalogging. If I could get a tune that suited me after 5-6 revisions and not have to put my drivers license in jeopardy to do the runs, I would be fine with it.

I would not be surprised if LMS wants a test conti before releasing anything for the car. They are ULTRA conservative on making sure it's 100% safe, this generally means it takes a long time for them to release anything new. But at the end of the day, you can assured that what they do release will be tested and safe.

As complex as the strategies are from what I have read and been told, it's not surprising to me that they want to make sure there are no surprises for themselves within the new strategy.

But hey! You are in the ground floor on this one, anything you get developed will probably be baselined for others! You should at least get a beer for that.

As a follow up to this, we are still looking to get our hands on a local one for an extended period. So it is a priority for that, we just want it to be safe and applicable for your vehicle before we turn it loose for you. You are definitely a priority for us, the local access for the Conti is the downfall currently.
But we have not forgotten about it, and we hope the market takes off for that vehicle, we do see quite the potential in it.

Thanks, Livernois, for jumping in here. My loyalty is still with you. I just thought your MKZ tune would be compatible or could easily be tweaked to work on my Conti. I am just disappointed that it seems to be necessary to start from scratch.

This situation is no ones fault, obviously, and your dedication to quality and safety is appreciated.

Have you actually confirmed they cannot get the required data from a 0-80 run? I don't know remember what I did my data logs to but I know it was NOT triple digits and I'm not sure if I ever made it to 90 or not. I also am not comfortable hitting 90 on the interstate so I know I wouldn't have gone much over it. But where I data log I drive South on the interstate, get off at an exit in the country, turn around, stop, and do a pull onto the North interstate. I get my pull in and I'm on the brakes before I merge into traffic. This allows me to check for cops when I'm headed South and then I'm over the speed limit for a very limited time.

They can get the data needed on a wot 0-80/85 run. You dont need to do multiple pulls the same day or all kinds of partial throttle logs.

Good to know that the 0-80 or so runs being could be sufficient. I could find a place to do that without much risk. My car has a 3.39 gear so at WOT it shifts at about 33 mph, 50 mph and 80 mph in gears 1 through 3. That should provide some reasonable data.

So. I ordered, thermostat, plugs, Cold Air, and 3br today from BCB. I am still not sure who I am ordering my tune from, I am still conflicted on what I want to do about that. I was wondering if anyone knows if BCB has all the Ford updates included in there tunes, I read somewhere LMS gets the updates right from Ford and includes them in there tune. If I do end up with BCB i will keep you posted on how it works out. Have a great weekend.
