Hi,

I am planning on doing a brake job this weekend. Anyone have any experience with Wagner ceramic pads? They seem reasonably priced, and I just don't want to do something I should not, if anyone knows about it beforehand.

Thanks

No experience with the Wagners, but most people seem to have a positive opinion of ceramics for a daily driver. I really liked the Raybestos ceramics on my '94, and the Bosch ceramics that came on my '97 seem OK, but I really haven't "tested" them yet.

OH, and make sure you get 598 sized pads. About 50% of the V8 SHO's we work on have the incorrect, smaller, 601 sized pads on them.

hey,

thanks for the response. How do I know if they are 601 or 598? Are these numbers on the boxes somewhere?

Yep, right on the box. It will probably be mixed in as part of the part number, like MKD598 or PGD598QS, etc. but the three digit size code will be in there.

ceramics are definely the best for daily driving, my brother put wagner ceramics on his 98 Maxima and they work just fine, no squeaks, noise of any sort

The 601 pad is designed for the 10.9" rotor and thus has less sweep area when used on an 11.6" setup, but you are still going to have solid brakes. I think alot if this has to do with inaccurate brake data for the 96 SHO (and the SHO in general), and most shops use the pads because they fit in the bracket perfectly. Next time make a point to make sure you get 598 sized pads.
