This is SHOPO's son, with urgent brake problems.
The pedal sinks gradually to the floor and braking power is lost. My mechanic thinks we put the wrong master cylinder in, does anyone know if it's a special part? He sid something about it being a special aluminum part ($500 from Ford), is this true?

Have you checked for leaks? The SHO MC is a 1" bore with and generally is purchased with an indication that it is for ABS cars. I'm not sure if that really makes a difference, but I do know it has two lines coming off of it and is a 1" bore.

BTW, you'll get more responses in the maintenance section of the forum.

Dustin,

Can you pump it up to somewhat firmness with the pedal? I might have another used one if you need it.

Also, did the new unit come dry? It is hard to purge the air out sometimes. Also, don't use cheap fluid from Walmart (supertech), get a name brand from AZ or Checker, like Pyroil. Call me on 602-538-2568 if you need help.

bleed bleeed, then bleed some more....its got a long way to go. This is a good opportunity to flush the whole system with some nice new synthetic fluid...you can get a quart of Valvoline Syn from AZ pretty cheap.

Well, I ended up taking it to a mechanic, as requested by my mother. The guy replaced the MC with a new one from NAPA ($400 from them, $500 from Ford) and that did the trick. :hail:
I'm sorry I didn't get back to this thread for so long, but I was having internet problems. Thanks for your help guys, I hope to see you all soon. :salute:
