Hey guys... Was doing some heavy braking today and my brakes started to grind slightly. Seems like it's getting worse every mile. I obviously have some brake work to do, but was wondering what my options were. I don't want to spend $1000 for brake parts, but would like to have something better than before. I don't want to spend too much because I'm going back to college in the fall. Any suggestions with some prices would be very helpful! Thanks...

Do the '96 upgrade! If your going to replace the rotors and pads anyways, the only extra cost is for the 96 caliper brackets.

Yeah, car goes into the shop tomorrow! Pretty good service if you ask me. I called them this morning! I can't drive on grinding brakes, it's bad enough that I have to go to work today, but oh well...

I'll mention it to the shop if they need to do anything more than just pads, to call me, because I'll let them know (if they don't know already) that the '96 taurus SHO brakes have the same mounting spots as the 92-95, correct? If I have to explain it to them, what do I have to tell them?

yes, all you need is the caliper brackets from a 96+ sho, or 95+ continental, brake rotors for same, and pads for same.

If you hear grinding, you have already passed the point where you can replace just the pads. You will certainly need at least one new rotor.
