Hi everyone,

I decided to replace my calipers, rotors, and pads (only done one so far), and I just found out my brake light is stuck on. If I pull back gently on the pedal, it turns off, the pedal only moves VERY slightly backwards. The brakes work fine and aren't spongey, I also flushed the old fluid out. I did have a leak when I thought I was finished and I pressed really hard. on the brake pedal to find the leak, it was the brake line to the caliper, I just tightened it down a bit more and it was fine. Brake lights were fine before I worked on the car. Any ideas?

Edit:Forum censored the word hard and on.....guess it thinks like a 9 year old, lol.

I did, I was topping it off as i went along making sure not to run dry. I have pressure and no issue with the brakes themselves, and the pedal is almost all the way back. When I pull back on the pedal it has the very slightest amount of play backwards and that does shut the light off. I would say it's like 1/8" of play, it seems pretty normal. If I release the brake quickly, it will also blip it off for a split second.

If you pressed hard o n the pedal it’s probably the brake light switch

Looking at the design of the brake switch, being always in contact with the pedal until you press it, I shouldn't be able to break it by pushing the brakes hard. It does look like it's probably that switch and damn is it in a bad spot with a daisy chained sensor above it that keeps me from just yanking it out. I have to blindly unclip the connector in the worst possible spot, sigh. I've got a new one coming, so hopefully I can do it myself.

It was a complete PITA but I got the switch changed out and it did fix it. Still not sure how/why it broke by pressing the pedal, based on the design. Could have been one **** of a coincedence I suppose.
