Ok, so aside from the parking brake, what would make the "brake" light turn on? For the past couple of days it turns on when turning on the car, sometimes goes off after driving for a bit, sometimes doesnt come on at all and turns on later.

What else would turn it on? Thanks in advance.

mine does that too, but ive noticed that if you just reach down w/ you hand and slightly pull up on the parking brake, then it goes off. so i know its just that, at least for me.

Oh, I know that fix. It used to work but that was before I replaced the parking brake cable. Now, the pedal is all the way up. In fact, when i push the pedal down, I can see the light get brighter until I let the pedal up. Then it dims just a fraction of a bit as if its something else turing it on.

Check your brake fluid level. That is supposed to warn you in case of a leak or for you to check your pads.

as Eric said, check your brake fluid. the master cylinder cap contains a level with electrical sensor. when the fluid level drops below a specific amount, the light comes on.

or your parking brake pedal bumper has became gooey and play games with the switch located against the parking brake stop.

actually, I did check it when I did the single muffler exhaust on my car about 2 days ago. It was lower then the max, only slightly, and I added what was missing. I guess Im gonna have to check pad by pad.
