Brake light issues

Hey guys, has anyone experienced in issue with their brake lights staying on when you turn on the headlights? If the headlights are off the brake lights function as they should and soon as I turn on the headlights and brake lights stay on, pressing the panel does nothing. Since I've had this car my third brake light and rear defroster never worked not sure if it's related. Any suggestions I really don't want to take it to the dealership.

If it was something where the parking lights came on when the brake pedal were pressed, I'd suspect a grounding issue. But to have the brake lights come on with the parking/head lights, that sound like either a bulb or two that were installed incorrectly (I'm not sure that's possible with the type of bulb used in the Taurus) or a wiring issue. Well, the 2013 was when they went to LED taillights, right? That would eliminate a bulb issue.

Do you have any record or have you found any sign suggesting this car has been in an accident previously?

Yes, it has led lights in the back, and yes I know it has been in two accidents

I'd be highly suspicious that through the repairs from at least one of those accidents, some wiring was not repaired correctly and that's why your taillights are acting funny and the CHMSL and rear defroster do not work.

I may be able to pull the wiring diagram for the three systems this weekend to see if there is something common to all three.

No, it turns out the passenger side outer light had about an inch and a half of water in it. It's probably fried, I guess it's time to buy some new ones.

I had moisture in mine had the dealer look at it, they said they were vented sure enough a day later no more moisture. Mine is a MY16 so maybe they are different design or your vents got clogged.
