Earlier today I experienced a failure of one of the brake hard lines that travel front to back along the driver's side. Luckily, I was pulling out of the lot at work and not moving at high speed. I was curious if there is anywhere that pre-bent replacement lines can be obtained for ease and safety of installation.

Doing a search found SSBrakes.com but I cannot find a listing for bent hard lines (it was mentioned they have the CAD for this...). I also found a Ford part number for the assembly, but I cannot locate anyone online and fear that it has been discontinued in the last 6 months.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Can't really answer you question about finding pre-bent hard lines, but with both the Gen3's I have owned I have just bought straight line and used a bender to get it close. If pre-bent lines can be had, they will likely be much more expensive.

While your at it, I would replace the line running across the back of the car to the RR Caliper.

I have two sets. One hand bent and never installed. One OEM and on the car for 6 months. Shipping is a problem. I am 100 miles south of Chicago if you want to go for a ride.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I just got off the phone with a dealer - F8DZ-2C287-A is apparently the newer part number, and they want $350 after a discount (OUCH), but it is available tomorrow. RR line is $150 extra - you can bet I'll be inspecting all of the remaining lines when I go to replace them.

Paul - thanks for the offer, its too bad that things with oddball shapes cost so much to ship. Right now I've got very little spare time, so driving isn't currently an option.

Given that I have a few hours tomorrow, and none Saturday and a few Sunday (but will need to recover after a FRI/SAT expo I'm working at) I may end up having to pay for the convenience of the ready to go lines.

With lines prepared, this is a fairly simple R&R job, yes? Also, is there a special method on the Gen3 for bleeding the brakes? I'm gathering that the master cylinder may have run dry.

For that much $ you can get someone to bend lines and install and stiil have something left over. Replace other line while you're in there. Been there already.

For me it was a PITA. I've done it three times now. Takes a 2-4 hours depending on rusty parts and your agility.

Much easier on a lift for sure, but I've never had the luxury.
