that's really the only way i can describe it. basically, when i go to hold the break before depressing the clutch to start the car, the pedal's really stiff and it takes a great deal of pressure to engage the brakes to keep the car from rolling backward. i've only started noticing this over the past two mornings, but it seems to be fine in the afternoon after work. thoughts?

Check the plastic one way check valve that is inline with the vacuum supply, it plugs into the booster.

Also check the vacuum line itself for cracks and leaks.

It's also possible the BB itself has cracked, but this is less likely.

Funny, but my booster is at zero assist first thing in the morning. I always considered this par for the course and called it a day.

Might I ask... why not just use the parking brake to keep the car stationary when parked?
