well this weekend i treated my car to some new brake components in preparation for autoX and also just for maintenance. I replaced the front rotors and pads, rear pads and calipers and installed brake bias plugs all at the same time. My rear calipers were seized which was why they were replaced. i replaced the organic pads in the rear with semi metallic to get rid of all the dust on the wheels. My first impression with the new setup was sheer excitment. The car feel 100% better and honestly as long as you are a halfway decent driver brake bias plugs should not be considered dangerous or anything like that. When i was auto crossing the abs kept kicking in, i actually think i would have been able to control the car better without the abs, is there an easy way i can disconnect the ABS at the track? Overall i think they are a great buy, and along with everything else i did to the car the car really stops great now. I cant imagine what the bigger brake guys must feel because this new stock equipment feels pretty good considering, I would have upgraded to bigger but since i am in STS i can't. The only thing i can do now is SS lines for the brakes, which i am sure will come soon enough. I get alot of brake steer now though but that will be fixed with poly front strut rod bushings and new front lower arms. (wow that post was huge, being bored at work is great :woohoo: )

half-way there, I think.
Yep, I love the brake bias plugs. But I can tell you that it was no fun when the ABS went on the fritz. The back of the car kept tring to pass up the front any time I had to get on the brakes hard - damn Denver traffic.

what do you mean on the fritz? not working at all or just not working correctly?

even though alot of people have/has complained about understanding the price for those plugs i still think that it might be the best bang for the buck mod i have done on the car. there was a clear improvment in the brakes.

Yeah, you can just disconnect that huge connector at the top of the computer... the one with the lever. Just stick some saran-wrap or something over the exposed connector to keep water, etc. out. Your ABS light will be on, but screw it. If you're worried about tech-in or w/e, you can cut the wire that goes to the ABS test connector; it goes from there to the dash light.

You may want to try disconnecting one of the front sensors (easy to unplug in the engine bay by the fender). Digging in my distant memory, I think the ABS computer will throw a fault since it will see the missing sensor. Since it cannot verify the fourth wheel, it will shut down the ABS system. You will need to verify that you do not have ABS by trying to lock up the brakes. Make sure you are in a SAFE location. I had the tail end try to pass me once while bedding in some pads on a country road.
