I thinking making a custom gauge pod either on A pilar or center dash speaker. My question is with gauges looks like I have two choices for vacuum boost is either mechanical or electric. I have been away from modding car for about 10yrs and wasn't aware that there was a electric gauge that works off a MAP sensor. Anybody have a recommendation regarding these? Electric is about 4x as much mechanical. My main corncern is if I am going to shell out a few hundred bucks on a ford racing autometer gauge that it's going hook up and function the way it should.

honestly If I was gonna run a guage it would be one of the aeroforce interceptor gauges. Its an OBDII gauge that will display up to 2 of the parameters from the OBDII port, so take your pick from like a hundred options... I think boost and IAT would be pretty cool to watch.

Im interested in seeing where you mount the gauge cause this has been on my mind as well.

Not sure the aeroforce will log boost on our cars...

If you go with a gauge...go electric...spend the extra cash.

It's funny you mentioned the center dash speaker...I'm sure BPD will chime in here and say that I thought of that first! :p

Did I miss it or is oil pressure not one of the parameters offered in the Aeroforce Interceptor? I was pretty disappointed that a performance vehicle did not have oil and water temp gauges!

My MSD DashHawk will show all these things. I use it when I'm not logging with SCT LiveLink 6.3. DashHawk is no longer being sold new, but Livernois has a similar product available.

I have it attached to my dash in front of the tach. You can show from 1 - 12 things at a time. Usually run 2-4 or 6 parameters. Fun to watch. For instance, coming back to IA from FL, in normal driving, never saw boost go over about 5, and that was up steep hills, for long stretches.

Regarding the Aeroforce Scangauge. I have one in my SRT-4 and love it. It reads a ton of stuff, most importantly knock retard, ignition advance, and boost. It can only read up to 23psi though...just a heads up if you ever go more. lol
Ecah gauge also has analog inputs. So you can install for instance a oil pressure electrical sender (these can easily be boughten seperate) and just input it to the scan gauge along with a A/F O2 sensor or a EGT probe. Whatever you want. :) They're nice. :)
