Boost a pump!

OK, who's the organ donor that installed a BOOST A PUMP on a black 10 SHO? Vehicle came from up north somewhere like Ohio!?! BOOST A PUMP mounted in the trunk, mounted in line! The reason I ask is because I have the new owner with a MIL on! Traced it back to this thing, which is basically doing nothing! Disconnected the BOOST A PUMP and no more issue! It was hooked in line with the lift pump that just sends fuel to the high pressure pump on the engine!:banghd:

I just dont understand running a boost a pump in line with the lift pump?!? It doesn't add any performance and just wasted 3 hours of my techs time that the customer doesn't think he should be responsible for!?! ****** ME OFF!!!

The verdict is still out on whether the boost-a-pump will help. It should supply more fuel to the high pressure pump. The question is whether or the the HP pump can make use of the extra fuel

A Kenne Bell Boost-a-pump does not pump fuel. What they do is increase the voltage to the stock pump by up to 50%. This is adjustable from 0-50% increase. Increasing the voltage increases the speed & volume of the stock pump. The purpose in our EB engines is to make sure the DI pump gets all the fuel it can, so when one raises boost, the FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure) is kept as high as possible. This is to prevent LEAN conditions.


The 2010 SHO in question is likely BeefCakes. He is from Ohio and had a Black 2010 SHO. Torrie also had a boost-a-pump in his, but it was white, and he removed the BAP.

It definitely helps based on my logging efforts. However it is not the end-all cure-all for FRP.

There are many ways to set up a boost-a-pump. I only run mine if I am going to do WOT runs. I manually set it. If it is on all the time, it just recirculates the extra fuel more often, which heats up the fuel. This negates the benefit of W/M (another subject). While BeefCake never stated he had a BAP (from what I saw anyway), I would be surprised if he didn't also have W/M, as this is a much more effective way of gaining HP & allowing for more radical tuning. The BAP is simply another means to hopefully keep adequate FRP & maintain level lambda readings. I did not add a BAP until we were tuning with a 3 Bar MAPv sensor.

It would definitely be helpful if Dan would discuss all of these parameters and more, and how they work together. However, in the mean time, you can google each of these items and see how they work. Also check, DI, Knock sensors, Methanol injection, and more.

you buy it from a guy in MO?

if so, it's my old car.

And the BAP does work. That car was the first new SHO in the 12's and I believe 2 years later still holds the record for a tune only car. No meth or nitrous!

What were your low range DI pressure Numbers with BAP??? Key.. as I understand it is not the DI pressures, but whether the Lambda stays solid with low DI pressures... Sorta on the cusp... so to speak...

Did you also run a 3-bar sensor?????... Didn't mention that in your disclaimer on W/M & NOS.

MD handled all the datalogging. Ken B did it all before he went to Diablosport.

As far as #'s, it's been over a year and a half since i've had the car, I can't remember to be honest.
