Any of you guys have problems with the SYNC bluetooth not pairing? I've unpaired and deleted it from my phone and the radio and when I go to re-sync, it pops on real quick and just disappears. It does this with all devices. What gives?

Are you seeing "SYNC" pop up on your phone to select for the pairing?

I just did a SYNC update on mine and had to re-pair. Went without a hitch other than the 30 minutes I had to leave the car running for the update. Ouch!

Reboot your phone first, just for the heck of it, but then, reboot the SYNC system - that usually means disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it.

There is a "delayed reboot" program you can put on a USB stick instead of disconnecting the battery - http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.html

Other than that, a master reset might be the only way to do it - which will wipe all your preferences and other stuff.

The idea is that there is some remnant of the pairing left somewhere even when it's removed. It might be that unpairing from the phone first leaves Sync's pairing in a weird state. Better to unpair from Sync first (or vice-versa, it's been a while).

Edit...Want to point out that all of the below comes from a new SYNC user.

If you have never done an update on a 2013, I recommend it eventually. Mine had never been done.

My SYNC was slow and very buggy with voice commands. Seemed to never get the name right of the person I was calling or the Sirius channel I wanted and was slow to respond.

Since the update, it's been 100% on word recognition and significantly faster. It also has some new menu options that come up once I speak the first word as prompts.

Maybe it's my imagination, but the entire system seems to now operate with less delays.

My small SYNC tip for anyone that hasn't changed the setting is to switch it to Advanced mode. I'm way, way too impatient to wait for all of the voice prompts. SYNC sounds like she was programmed by someone in the deep South. Advanced mode stops all of the s..l..o..w voice prompts.

My only complaint with the system in general is the need to download the update to a USB and then wait 30+ minutes with the car running for it to update. Why in this day and age can the system not connect to wi-fi and self update?

In some ways, I think my Sync 3 is worse, security-wise than my 2013's Sync.

If I remember correctly, the last Sync update I did (3.6?) was significantly faster than the previous one, certainly not 30 minutes.

Good to hear! Hopefully it will be faster the next time.

I went from whatever was released in 7/12 to SYNC 3.8. It took over 30 minutes. I started to feel bad for the car and wished that I would have done it later at night when it was cooler out.

I had my touch ford in 2 vehicles and it always worked but was super slow and I had to repair every couple months. I have sync three now and it works great.
