ok so yesterday i noticed the car was leaking something so i get under it and look at it. there seems to be a hairline fracture or crack. sorry pics are not the clearest. i did not do anything to cause this, no big burnouts or anything like that. does this mean that the tranny needs to be replaced/ fixed? if i can jb weld or silicone it so it holds fluid would it be good to drive for a little while until i get a new tranny? the car shifts fine, no change in drivability in the car. i cant tell if its leaking from the crack or something else, the whole underside is covered in fluid, i had the car on stands and ran it through the gears with someone underneath it to see if they could see where the fluid was coming from, but nothing came out. it might not have leaked because of the angle with the front end lifted up?
any help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys

Blown diff. You could theoretically drive it the way it is if it still moves and shifts OK, but there's no telling when the pin is going to jam somewhere and cause everything to seize up, which would make for a very dangerous situation. I certainly wouldn't drive it like that. Be safe and park it.

Time for a "new" trans.

HAHAHA! That's funny, I blew the diff in my old '94 while driving home from prom. The GF was NOT happy.

It's definitely dangerous. Like I said, the ejected pin could jam at any moment and cause the front wheels to lock up. Your buddy is gonna need to find another ride unless you can swap the trans before then.

is there any possibility that it happened because or reinforced MMs? or was it just chance it went out without beating on it? and is $600 for a used tranny with the diff pins welded a good deal? i was just gonna see if i could get one for around 2-300 and weld them myself, or possibly take the tranny apart and weld the case and see what damage has been done to the gears...
just my luck get RB and MMs and exhaust done and ta daaa!! time for another trans! :nut:

Letting your buddy take it to the prom sounds like a bad idea....... How good of a friend is he? Is he givin you any money to take it to prom?

he is a good friend, and no he is not giving me any money. and i told him that the only driving he will do is to the brewery for pictures and down to the grand march. a lot less than my 30 miles a day. but i plan on taking her apart this next week.

no the grand march is where we just walk through the gym, but everyone likes to sit outside and watch all the nice cars roll in.... and i agree with the spare parts, i got the car with a blown one but it still drove fine.. for 300 miles until i crawled underneath the car and saw the gears right next to the output shaft. .. absolutley no fluid in it.. i hate the man that sold me the car without telling me.
