yea i seen the to lines on the belt for the crank and i put it on 3.0 since i used the 3.0 tensioner

So if I understand correctly you have a 3.2L motor and you have set the timing belt marks on the 3.0L settings. I've never done this particular swap but it doesn't sound logically correct.

yea i understand what your saying but i thought if i used the 3.0 tensioner to use the 3.0 setting bc the 3.2 had a tensioner and another pulley. i took that all out since my 3.0 accessories wouldnt go on with them on so i took off the spring loaded tensioner off the 3.0 and put it on the 3.2. hey jeff did i mess this up since it is the 3.2 should i have set the crank mark to the 3.2 or since i used the 3.0 tensioner and cams to use the 3.0 settings?

Ya the alignment marks have are for proper alignemnt of the crank and cam shafts and have nothing to do with the tensioner. However the tensioner must keep the proper tension to prevent the extra slack from allowing the crank and rear cam from advance enough to jump a tooth on the timing belt.

From someone with a running 3.2L swap....

If you're using the 3.0L ancillary and tensioner setup, you MUST use the 3.0L timing markings on the belt.

The reason being that the 3.2L tensioning system has an additional idler pulley on the timing belt that the 3.0L doesn't, and because of this, there is an adjustment of 1 tooth on the crank sprocket to account for the additional distance the belt takes to connect the front cam sprocket to the crank sprocket. If you're running a 3.2L with a 3.0L tensioner setup, and use the 3.2L markings, your timing WILL be off and your car WILL run like poo poo.

Cliffs Notes - if you're using the 3.0L timing tensioner setup, you have to use the 3.0L markings, 3.2L block or not.

ok so i did the timing the right way then

Ok so you do use the 3.0l marks.

RACERX you posted "there is an adjustment of 1 tooth on the crank sprocket to account for the additional distance the belt takes to connect the front cam sprocket to the crank sprocket"

is this automatic by just using the 3.0L marks or is this something you just have to consciously do on your own.

I think what he is saying is the 3.2 mark is one tooth difference because of the 2 pullies vs the one on the 3.0 , use the 3.0 mark with the 3.0 tensioner

Also I was just thinking........ (smell smoke LOL) was there timing belts marked wrong at one time ??????? Or do you have the belt on backward ........(timing marks will not line up )
