Are you sure its not the other way around. The butterflies are always open and commanded closed at start up when vacuum builds. So if you have a vacuum issue then they may be remaining open and you will not see a change when you rev the motor.

when you rev the engine with the throttle it self so you can see the rod to open the butterflies.they dont move at all when it revs up. i took at flat head screwdriver to move them up and down to loosen them up and then i reved it and it opened a couple of times then stopped.

Shut the motor off let the vacuum blead off. Then have someone start the car while you watch and make sure they are closing at start up. If they indeed are then you have vacuum and the IRCM vacuum/vacuum reg needs to be checked. The vacuum module could be bad or the PCM may not signaling the module to release the vacuum to open the butterflies.

Sounds like the butterflies where always open. (probably not plugged back in.. or a vacuum line was unplugged)

Glad to hear its back on the road. Next time, try and document everything you take off, unplug, and move when your'e working on the car. Once you have done certain things a couple times, you wont need to do this, but it does help you get out of the "newb" status faster.

HEH, well I'm glad this came to a good end...shame about not torqueing down the cams...yikes. I'm not sure I would have admitted that.

i had 4 and 5 switched on the coil pack. i replaced the sensor for the butterflies to open. still has a tap and the trans rattles when i have the clutch out and when i push it in it goes away, brand new clutch and pressure plate in it also throughout bearing. but it pulls alot harder with the 3.2 with 3.0 cams i can tell a difference from the stock 3.0. and again thank you all

bad news. timing jumped and valves bent. what would be better to get new heads with everything in them or to replace the valves?
