Will recently be purchasing a 2nd gen MTX (as i seen no reason to modify an ATX, just my opinion). From what i understood from threads the motor is pretty much built stock? I know theres obviously alot of bolt ons, but they're all pretty expensive (college) and dont yield all that much power gain unless combined with an array of bolt ons. From what i've read the stock block, internals and head can handel forced induction without absolutely having to put low compression pistons etc. into it. So what i'm hoping to do is make my own turbo kit over time. If this does go through i'll be having someone weld the piping for me and anything else that can be done without bringing it to a shop will be. I think im looking at maybe $1,500? hopefully with some Ebay help. My question is Beside the things needed directly with the turbo (inter piping, modify manifold, intercooler etc.) what will i need to buy? do i absolutely have to have tune it? If not how much psi can i run without a tune? My biggest question is what turbo is suited for my needs? As i said i want to run it as much psi as possible without tune, if its even possible :oogle: , Should i buy a smaller T3/T4 or should i go with something bigger (as i hopefully will tune once im not such a broke ass)? Is it even worth it? Thanks to any responses, sorry if its not even worth it and i just wasted your time :p

Maybe you should try some searching, your going to need to tune to have it run correctly no matter how much boost. You need more fuel. Injectors need to be swapped, new pump, different MAF, you should have a Quaife just so you can get traction and not blow up a tranny every week. They were just a few of the many supporting mods and your up around the 2k mark.

Let me be the first to say (and I won't be the last!), if your broke, forced induction is not for you. Not trying to knock you down, but maintaining these cars, N/A, can be brutal to your pockets. Seems like your doing most of the fabbing, and work yourself, or at a very low cost, which is great. But remember, you'll need a beef up the suspension. I think that figure runs along the lines of the dollar amount you posted above. Then you've got everything else. . . . . .

I agree, big power with a stock suspension/brake/tune/differential/fuel setup is just brutal. Especially when the last 60k maintenance is unknown. You're just asking for something to break. :nut:

Save up and get that ride running good, handling good, stopping fast, etc. then go crazy with forced induction. :thumb:

If you want the cheapest (and best bang for your buck) forced induction, go with the Zex dry nitrous kit. Do a search, and you should find some clues. I think the part number at Jegs and most other places is 82011 (someone correct me if I'm wrong). It's easy to install (about 2 hours with a friend), should give you around 40 hp at the front wheels, and it's all pretty inexpensive. The kit costs a little over $500, and even if you factor in 10 bottle fills, you're only adding another $500 or so.
