My rear struts in my 94 ATX are starting to leak a little, thus I will be looking to replace them in the near future.

What would be the best route to take? I'd like a lower stance - 1.5" or so, plus better handling and a firmer ride.

edit: I would most likely replace springs and struts at the same time

Sugestions?

Thanks

Struts:
Tokico
Koni
-------
stock style replacement- not for use with Eibach or intrax---
Monroe sensatrac
Kyb
-------
Springs:
Moog
Eibach
Intrax

what im running
Tokico/Moog- ride is firm, but not too firm. However when you push the car, it tightens up quick.

What i would want (IMO best setup)
Koni/cut intrax. The koni's are adjustable. and the intrax will give you the best drop. ALong with being firm.

Then you have the option of going to coilovers with the Koni's. (I think)

a search will net you alot more info on the subject too.

I would go with Koni and Intrax. It will give you a good firm ride that is adjustable. It also drops it a good 1.5".

You can check out some components here: Suspension

We will have a complete kit lisitng soon so you dont have to buy everything seperate.

Why can't you use eibach with kyb struts. I need to know about this cause I need to replace all struts and springs in my 95.

KYB's won't dampen the motions as well as Koni's and Tokico's. You get what you pay for.

I blew one of my tokico's in the back. They have been now discontinued. I ordered Koni's for the Rear. At what setting shall I put them, since I have tokico's in the front. I have Eibach springs all around.

Koni's and Tokicko's probably won't be a great match and I would expect that you'll experience an increase in understeer since the gas charged front struts are designed to dampen just a little and then rebound quickly whereas the hydraulic Koni's have more dampening and then a very slow and deliberate rebound; the rebound is all you are adjusting on the Koni's; i.e., how slowly they will rebound.

i was told while shopping around for struts that konis on full soft are "comparible" (whatever that means to you) to tokikos.

What's your budget ? Don't forget to add strut mounts or at least replace the front strut mount bearings while you're at it.

If you can still get your hands on some Tokico's, you will be happy with these with Eibach springs. :thumb:

For my daily SHO slugger, I have Tokico's and Moog CC Springs. Love em. I never have to slow down for speed bumps in the parking lots. Also I am running on 17's.

The weekend fun car has Koni/Eibach combo.

Also use the Search function :type: to see what others are riding on and you can see some forum members are happy with Monroe/Moog combo. But if you are selecting Eibach springs, stay with Tokico or Koni.

my .02 cents.

I meant your average speed bumps.

BTW ... we should get together sometime in Aug or Sept ... will you be around ?

yep. I'll be back from Toronto on August 14th. I was planning on being available for the Cruise-in that Kevin mentioned, but something before then would be great too, cause I'll be cramped for time with school and work.

I like my Koni and Eibach setup. Those along with my solid motor and trans mounts, subframe connectors, 26mm rear sway bar, and h-brace. I now like going around corners and freeway interchanges at 90mph (depending on the turn of course).

Coilovers are great for handling, but if you live in a high pothole / road construction area, you'll get sick of them in no time. I have KYB/Intrax chopped 1.5, and I love it. Totally streetable and holds up nicely on autocross and road course tracks. I would have went with the adjustable Koni's but was short on $ at the time. Or you can just do like I do and have a set of both. :thumb:
