I'm looking for a GOOD cleaner for my interior plastics (dash, center of steering wheel, door panels, center console), not for my leather. I don't want a polish like Armor-All, but rather something to remove light dirt blemishes.

Any suggestions?

If you have really dirty plastic with hard to remove dirt in the grain, I would use Castrol Super Clean in a 10:1 ratio with a little scrub brush, thats the only thing that got the dirt out my dads white vinyl top on his Caddy. After cleaning go over it with a high qualiy vinyl/plastic conditioner.

I have found that if you really want something clean use Super Clean, Simple Green just doen not cut grease and grime as well as Super Clean. Caution: it's not great for you skin right out of the bottle. I think it is a heavy basic chemical and will cause chemical burns after prolonged exposure (been there).

I just got the stuff steevil suggested today in the mail as well as Castrol super clean from my local walmart. Let me tell you how great of a combo these two make. The Castrol took great care of the dirt on my interior plastics while the Meguires did a nice job following the heavy duty cleaner...with no cheezy shiny surface residue, just healthy, clean looking plastic and rubber.

Yea Bryan that's what I was saying in the post before yours...my combo works pretty well! I have yet to try Purple Power; for now I'm really happy with the Castrol Super Clean thumb

Purple Power will pretty much eat through anything. But it leaves a really geasy film (esp on hands), that should be followed by something to get the film off. Nothing stronger is needed because the P Power would eaten everything else anyway. I've used Purple Power to get up oil stains from concrete, much less clean some stuff off a car dash.

sunny San Juan Bautista,
Castrol Super Clean is powerful stuff but it has trashed the skin on my hands more times than I got fingers. Simple Green isn't exactly easy on the hands but it's not nearly as bad as Castrol Super Clean. Plus I like to put the stuff in spray bottles. Since there's often an afternoon wind out here spraying cleaner outside means that there's risk of mist getting in my eyes. Again, Simple Green in the eyes is definately not a good thing, but Castrol Super Clean is far more dangerous to the eyes than Simple Green. Caustic stuff will keep penetrating corneal tissue with a vengeance even as you try to neutralize it with a good buffered saline or a boric acid solution.

Moral: I try to use Simple Green when possible. I find that 95% of the time it has all the cleaning power I need. The Castrol Super Clean is far safer when it sits in its container unused during that 95%. If I REALLY need it it's there. But I'm telling you, every time I break that stuff out my hands get trashed.

SHO Juan, you have a great point. While cleaning my car out last week I happened to get a good amount of Super Clean on my fingers. The next day they were glazed over with a film of what seemed to resemble crazy glue. Not cool. It went away eventually but I can just imagine if that were my eyes eek!

When you get super clean on you hands it pulls the oil out of your skin. Thats what gives it the oily feel, thats also why it cleans so well. It can quickly break down oils so you can wash them away with water. If you are having problems with it eating you skin, mix it 10 to 1 with water. It will still clean very well and won't harm your littly girly hands as much :D :D
